What should the future transit hub in Allandale be called?

The City is asking the public to provide feedback on potential names for the future transit hub to be located within Barrie's Allandale area, next to the existing railway. Once complete, this hub will host seamless transit services and connections between Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Please indicate your preference on the shortlist of potential names via this survey, which should take no more than a few minutes to complete. Feedback will be collected until April 18, 2023.

About the shortlist of potential names:

City of Barrie staff and consultants applied industry best practices and considered general principles to prepare a shortlist of potential facility names.

A facility name should be “easy” to understand, pronounce and remember, should be “self-locating” (meaning users know the specific area they are in by the name), be “distinctive” as it differentiates from other civic facilities and be “relevant” for the facility's intended purpose. All potential names are easy to understand, pronounce and remember. The shortlist of potential names is as follows:

    • Allandale Bus Terminal
    • Allandale Waterfront Bus Terminal
    • Barrie Allandale Bus Terminal

Once the consultation period closes, staff will review the results and use the submitted feedback to help inform the final recommendation for the facility name.
