Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal and Downtown Mini Hub
Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal and Downtown Mini Hub
The Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal (formerly the Allandale Transit Mobility Hub) and Downtown Mini Hub is a project to build a modern inter-regional transit hub to host transit services and connections through a more integrated public transit system.
The Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal will be located within Barrie's Allandale area to centrally locate an inter-regional transit hub with adjacency to the existing rail corridor. This hub will host seamless transit services and connections between Simcoe County, Muskoka and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). For more information visit the project page.

Previous consultation related to the Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal and Downtown Mini Hub:
- The City presented a virtual Public Information Session on the project on June 23, 2021. Attendees met the project team, learned about results from an earlier survey that have informed the design and program choices to date, received a progress update, and learned about previously developed conceptual plans.
- In early 2021, and again in late 2022, the City invited residents to share their vision for the future of Barrie's transit network through Barrie’s Transit Vision.
- In 2018, the City conducted online engagement for the Mobility Hub through a “priorities & preferences survey” and results were considered in the Allandale Mobility Hub Feasibility Study.
- From January 26 to February 16, 2023, the City collected feedback on public art themes to be considered for the future Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal, through a survey and the ideas tool. The results will help inform the design and selection of public art features to be incorporated in the site.
- From March 31 to April 18, 2023, the City collected feedback on potential names for the future Barrie Allandale Transit Terminal through a survey. Feedback will help inform the recommendation for the facility name.

To honour the burial ground that the station is built on, Wendat artists should be consulted (and paid handsomely) to memorialize what the space was and what it could mean as a travel hub in the future.

Display post-colonial history of the land, Indigenous artwork, the Indigenous tribes who were located in the location of the Mobility hub. Artwork that reflects Indigenous ways of knowing.
0 comment0Karen Cannabout 1 year agoIndigenous immersive experience
It would be great to see art that includes an immersive experience where users can scan the art and it expands on their screen to include more information about the pieces as well as additional art that becomes animated. I think the stories within the art should include indigenous history and art that is part of the city's DNA. It should be unique, inspiring and transformative to the city of Barrie. A great example of this is the augmented reality experience in Etobicoke: https://www.artsetobicoke.com/projects/augmented-reality-in-islington-village/.
