Humans produce a lot of waste. We make products, consume them and throw them away, littering our planet. There is a different way we can do things. The City of Barrie invites everyone to step into 2022 on a journey towards a circular economy. Together we have the power to make decisions, use, reuse, repair and recycle our way to a cleaner, healthier and happier planet.

Expand Share, Swap & Repair
Add additional “New to Me Days” beyond the 1st Saturday in June. Expand partnerships with charities (e.g. Habitat for Humanity) and businesses (e.g. kijiji, Flashfood - food waste reduction app)

More Bulk Barn type stores. Offer more products. Include a large recycling/storage feature within these stores.
The stores could sell their own storage containers, that are recyclable. People then fill their purchased containers, instead of getting new containers every purchase. This is good for Bulk Barn type foods, liquid detergents, condiments, milk/cream, and etc. This service model would need to have different store outlets, to offer the different goods. You should not be moving food, with detergents in the same building; if you do it would need extensive health and safety measures built in.
