Consultation has concluded

At the heart of the city, Barrie’s waterfront is a major attraction. Spanning more than 5km- from Johnson's Beach through Barrie's marina, and into Wilkins Beach- it is one of our most cherished spaces to relax, play, exercise and enjoy life.

As noted in an August Council Motion, City staff are looking at how to better plan and manage our waterfront for tomorrow, especially as we continue to grow our population while facing challenges such as COVID-19. As part of the process, the City is holding two initial community consultation webinars on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

With a report going to council (planned for March 2021) on how to update the City's waterfront approach, and the experiences of this past summer still fresh in our mind, your insight and feedback will help guide the future of Barrie’s waterfront.

How can we encourage a waterfront that – no matter what – remains both welcoming and inclusive, as well as safe and resilient? As both the city and the surrounding area continue to grow, how can we prioritize our waterfront for Barrie residents, while also making it an attractive destination for visitors? These are some of the questions we will explore during the webinar.
