Building on to the works completed as part of the 2019 master plans, the updated Wastewater Master Plan (WWMP) will address wastewater collection and treatment requirements in one document. The WWMP 2051 will:
Assess the existing wastewater system to identify capacity constraints and opportunities for improvement;
Ensure wastewater services meet the current and future community needs by providing long-term and integrated wastewater servicing strategies to 2051 and beyond; and
Recommend future infrastructure projects that will provide the required wastewater service.
Get Involved!
The City of Barrie values open dialogue and would like to invite anyone with an interest in this study to stay engaged and get involved. As the study progresses, there will be opportunities to participate in a public consultation meeting.
The Study’s anticipated duration is approximately 2 years, with completion expected by Fall 2025. Following the Notice of Master Plan, the draft report will be available for review during the public 30-day review period.

A background review of the Study Area is currently underway, which includes completion of baseline studies.
3. Alternative Strategy Development & Evaluation

The project team will review and evaluate various alternative servicing strategies based on a detailed evaluation criteria framework. The evaluation will assess potential benefits and impacts from economic, social and environmental perspectives.
4. Public Information Centre

Opportunities for the public to provide input at a Public Information Centre on the preliminary preferred servicing alternative.
