Consultation on this phase of Barrie's Transit Vision has concluded.
Guiding Barrie's transit network as we grow
The City of Barrie is building a blueprint for growing our existing transit system to best meet the needs and goals of today’s city, while developing a long-term plan for a future network.
The Principles (seen right) will guide route network development through:
Foundation: recognizing, and working to achieve, the 7 demands of useful transit.
Pillars: shaping the transit network design.
Service Promises: influencing the longevity, financial feasibility, and experience of the transit network.
What will Transit Vision achieve?
Building on previous work that laid the foundation for the Transportation Master Plan (specifically for Transit), Transit Vision focuses on creating:
Future Network Phases to ensure a long-term transit outlook; and,
A Bus Stop Infrastructure Plan to place stop amenities when and where they are needed.
Share your experience!
In order to create a successful transit network that meets your needs and improves your mobility, we need your input - whether you use Barrie Transit or not. Beginning in February 2021 please share how you use transit and what you would like incorporated into Barrie’s future transit network. Through surveys, Q&A, polls and more, this phase of engagement will focus on collecting:
Information about your current Barrie Transit habits;
Feedback on network principles and your preferences in Barrie; and,
Comments on the guiding pillars & principles.
Future engagement
Transit Vision is anticipated to include two more public feedback sessions:
Spring 2021: proposed network options for Barrie; and,
Fall 2021: the plan to transition to the new Allandale Mobility Hub in 2022.
