The City of Barrie wants to hear from residents about the future of the downtown and waterfront. On August 14, 2024, Marshall Green provided a report to Barrie City Council, The Southshore, Barrie Sports and a Revitalized Downtown.(External link) Mr. Green was asked to gather information about the parade ground and multi-use sports field and report back to Council with feedback from various stakeholder groups/organizations and to summarize their position to help guide the waterfront and downtown vision.
Marshall Green’s report outlines several recommendations, and City Council wants to hear what the public thinks. There were several opportunities to provide your feedback:
A survey. (The survey was open from August 22 to September 25, 2024).
An in-person drop-in consultation took place on Tuesday, September 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the General John Hayter Southshore Centre. Members of the public attended to provide feedback on the recommendations outlined in Mr. Green’s report.
All feedback has been gathered and will be shared with Barrie City Council in a staff report(External link) that is on the agenda(External link) for October 9, 2024. The report can also be accessed via the "Project Documents" section on the right.
