There are hundreds of ways to improve our greenhouse gas emissions. Funding a superior transit system to reduce vehicles, funding more places to work so half our population doesn’t drive to Toronto for work, using clean energy sources such as the methane created by our mountain of garbage, education in the largest ghg supplier in the world the meat industry. However my favourite way we can do this which will reduce ghg, bring jobs to the area, and bost our local economy, is the opening of a plastics recycling plant in the Barrie area.

By opening a plant we can local source a direct line of tracable sources for our city’s plastics. This is becoming increasingly important as there is plans to make all businesses responsible for there own waste through federal legislation. It will also create a whole new market in Barrie, by having a spice of recycled plastic right here in Barrie you open the door to plastic moulding plants which are a huge income avenue. 

Having all of these directly in Barrie further reduces ghg by reducing shipping emissions and also the cost associated. It will increase local jobs, further reducing travel emissions and boosting the economy. And is extremely environmentally responsible as we can say “look, here’s the plastic we used! Zero waste!”
