In collaboration with partners, the Government of Canada has prepared interactive, creative and educational activities for the whole family! Have fun exploring special activity packs and share your experience using the hashtag #CanadaDay.

Barrie Film Festival: Canadian Film Journey with Jennifer Podemski

Explore the Canadian film journey of Jennifer Podemski in this special interview with her sister Sarah Podemski, also a talented actor and producer. Take a glimpse into her story from in front of and behind the camera as an award winning film and television producer and actor. You will hear about how her inspirations, mentors, and stepping stones have brought her to where she is today.

Barrie Public Library

Barrie O Kids Show- For over 20 years, BarryO has been entertaining and educating kids with his one-of-a-kind variety show.

Story Time with Mayor Lehman- The Barrie Public Library kicks off Community Reading Champions with a special Canada Day story with Mayor Jeff Lehman. The Library’s Community Reading Champions share their passion for reading with their favourite books that will capture the attention and spark the imagination of children of all ages.

MacLaren Art Centre

The MacLaren presents a special Canada Day themed Family Sunday Online! Learn and create together at home, following along with simple instructions, examples designed by regional practicing artists, and completed with materials you can find at home! Ideal for children ages 3-8 years.

La Clé

Enjoy some Francophone Canada Day activities courtesy of La Clé de la Baie, including a concert with Monsieur Musique et la cheminée rouge sponsored by CFRH 88,-106,7 and Francophone Story Time. La Clé is a catalyst organization serving Simcoe County's francophone community. Recognized for its leadership in inclusion, La Clé offers a variety of quality services in order to actively contribute to the development, success and recognition of the francophone community in Simcoe County.

Downtown Barrie Baking Contest

The Downtown Barrie Business Association invites you to get baking! Share your Canada Day decorated cake or cupcakes on social media by Thursday July 2nd using #DowntownBarrieCupcake and you’ll be eligible to win up to $500 in Lifeline Ecards to your favourite Downtown Barrie business.

Canada Day Live Streams

Family Fun- Tune in to the live stream from 10 a.m-1 p.m. for a range of activities for all ages and abilities, showcasing Canadian culture and diversity.

Campfire Sessions- Tune in to the live stream at 4 p.m. to watch local artists performing originals and Canadian favourites — perfect for enjoying around the campfire. Headlined by Jason McCoy, The Washboard Union, and featuring many more talented artists!

    Canada is such a beautiful place to live. Our amazing communities are full of some of the kindest people on the planet. My favorite thing about living in Canada is having access to so many lakes and nature trails.
